8638. JUST LIKE HANGING WIRE

JUST LIKE
HANGING WIRE
The footstools and the pedestals,
nothing will help. This is all too
high to reach. We'll have to hang
it with wire. The guys from Abbe
Lumber will know. I see them
often enough, in the early morning;
I mean real early, and even in the
winter too: 6am, the one with the
frosty fork lift setting up a load.
I watch them as I wait for the train.
The flatbed is out by the side, and
the forklift guy fills the order  -  it
all goes down on the truck, the
2X4's, the 2X8's, the plywood,
the 4X4's and all that stuff. Noise
and clang, and they wrap it all
with metal strap, and off he goes.
The truck driver, not the fork-lift
guy  -  he's on the next order.
