EVERY VETERAN
Every veteran knows something about something,
or claims to. How the incendiary came raining
down on their comrade's heads, how the IED's
showed up, at the middle of the road and blew
the Jeep to smithereens. Then someone in the
audience, there's always one, pipes up to ask
'what's an IED?'. 'Improvised explosive device,'
I shout to answer. 'You fool! Like a heart or a
spirit, or can't you understand a single thing?'
God people like that distress me.
