SITUATION SIMULATION
In this meadow the parked cars sag, the outdoor
diners huddle as the waiters come by with no
trays. Everything, just slightly off, has one
remove. There is a girl in an apron, looking
for a fork. I watch her as she bends to where
it has fallen, behind the wallboard shelving
stand. The horizon - or what I can see of it -
is shade-blue, a distance off the Florida main,
a faraway something that beckons to me.
