7629. WHAT COMES IS WHAT FOLLOWS

WHAT COMES IS WHAT FOLLOWS
Here are all the claimants for the throne  -  even that
ridiculous guy with the plastic tophat wig. Remember
Thomas Dewey? He ran for President, in 1948 and
was laughed at for looking like 'the little man atop the
wedding cake.' He, however, blamed his loss on the
fact of having a moustache. OK then. To me he always
resembled that guy in Monopoly who gave away those
cards -  Community Chest, or whatever they were. So,
forget the wedding cake, yeah. Now the idea is to turn
the wheels without really being seen turning the wheels.
Some sort of manipulative feint. That's the sort of thing
that works. In the same vein, I saw an old building today
with its fake sides of fake brick-coating, really just a
stucco paste etched in squares to resemble bricks,
peeling down, in big patches, so as to reveal the tacky
real-wall underneath it. Exposed! I thought to myself,
'No brick, just the idea of brick. No brick, just the
idea of brick. No brick, just the idea of brick.'
