14,013. THE RELUCTANT SUN

THE RELUCTANT SUN
I'm glad I live on a variable Earth:
the way California people say 'I
miss the four seasons' makes me
gather the changing moments.
Today the reluctant sun drags
itself reluctantly across the tired
landscape. Its tired feet drag
furrows along the ground :
almost sad, but the shortest day
moves quickly anyway.
-
Not that it much matters. Face it,
we're stalled here, in this land,
until late January now, when most
things do effect a noticeable change.
Even that, reluctantly, takes time.
-
The same sad sun seeks solace, some.
