13,050. ALL THOSE GRAND INTENTIONS

ALL THOSE GRAND INTENTIONS
(songs my mother taught me)
When the tree lands on the house, the
rafters rattle and the storm-glass shatters.
Things go bump in the night. Oh fright!
-
We build our edifices in time, with the
hopes of evading it as well. Nothing
lasts forever, I've heard it said; limbs
falling, and seas that swell.
-
Here's to the girl who lives on the hill.
She won't, but her sister will.
