12,868. 'WE'RE HAVING A PARTY'

'WE'RE HAVING A PARTY!'
Some category or other of a
hurricane is winding out in the
street. Uprooting live trees like
toothpicks  -  things flying every
which way. When I was a young
kid I stood at the capstan watching
what came down from the sky.
-
Once, over Brooklyn it was two
entire places that had collided. How
weird was that, I was never sure
to say. Someone who had been
sitting atop a mailbox at the corner,
smoking while awaiting a friend,
was killed that evening when hit
by debris.
-
Pretty amazing stuff, when you
consider what's there today :
embroiled masses like snot or
squid, leaking and crawling
and screaming. For fear of
guns the guns are kept away.
