HOW THEY ARCHIVED
THE CENTERPIECE
The highway right here goes by us so
fast - all night long the ring-road is
buzzing with the hum and roar of
cheap motorcycles and rabid trucks.
What they don't run over they seem
to drag along. There's nothing
quaint any longer.
-
This old, rectangular home, the one
you see on the postcard, was owned
by the Salamini's, a family here in
the 1920's. It's all different now;
the stupid extension, and they've
stucco'd the porch. Or whatever
that is - I don't know why people
do that stuff now-days; all design
and all aesthetics have gone down
the drain. I'm left here alone, I
guess with you now, looking in
the closet, where they've,
apparently archived
the centerpiece,
the fools.
