7470. SEMBLANCE OF DEATH

SEMBLANCE OF DEATH
Man says 'Anything can happen' -
usually does. There are no lights
over Newark today as I walk
the old skyline, thinking. Behind the
Museum, an old carriage house hides.
-
The brick wall hesitates. From one
hundred years ago it wants to sing an
old tune that no one any longer knows. The
bolsters in the stonework grab and clutch
the wall. There is no place for it to fall,
except inward.
-
I mention names to myself :
Williams, Ginsberg, Edison, Ford, Crane,
Whitman -  my God, what a jumble!
