16,299. NOSTRUMS RUNNING LIKE WATER

NOSTRUMS RUNNING LIKE WATER
People like the Spring, I guess  -  all that
sudden and good-weather stuff. They break
out the flouncy shorts, and the sun-dresses
too. All of a sudden the place called Gravity
Ice Cream has a line, and no one knows what
to do while they wait. All the kids make noise.
-
Words get shouted across the green. Babies
in stare in wonder. (I guess they were born in
some January thunder, and this is all new to
them). The barber-shop stripe-thing is turning
on its wheel, though this is Sunday and he's
not around. Some guy with his dog looks for
somewhere to sit
-
Over the years now, places like this get to have
people I recognize  -  the same vagrant types,
slumming or humped  -  on the train-yard wall
or the benches by the Tesla Charging Station.
Sooner or later again, the guy with the '56 'Vette
will be back out. He says he lives up by Cherry
Ridge Airport, and brings the car out again each
May 14, in honor of his Mother, but only
if it isn't raining.
