13,874. BRING ME MABEL MAIDSTONE

BRING ME MABEL MAIDSTONE
I won't equivocate, just bring her here.
The lassos and lights are hung on the
wall and the brandy and bourbon set
up. Three guys at the other table
pretend to be playing cards, thinking
maybe that I won't notice their feint.
-
I'm just in from St. Louis station; some
old beat-up wagon that slid 'long the
trail. Damn, I'm so tired of travel.
-
You can maybe beat my head with a
hammer, but it won't make any
difference anyhow. I'd dead to
destruction and ready to bleed.
Take heed as you enter; and
take heed as you leave.
