GRIEF AND CONSOLATION
The mechanism for lifting the world
always appears to be in place. Leverage,
and an Archimede's Screw. A means to
raise great objects to other, greater,
heights. Meaning to or not, we got
the tasks completed: Raising temples
and erecting great walls. Grains, feeds,
powders, and water - each and every
incapable thing otherwise rising.
-
It's a mystery - some - how these
motions occur. Inadequacy entices the
mind, and mankind blames the stars
The distant celestial visitors who brought
us all this : seeds and planting, canals
and boats, metals and construction?
-
What such a primitive world was like,
I suppose - in our present - day we
shall never know, for they certainly
seem to have come and gone. Leaving
us now with a quite flammable
concoction of motley things.
-
The metallurgist then is but
the new prankster today,
and there is no flying bevel.
