PLEDGE
They announced the cathedral had a
breakdown and ten pigeons from
the roof are dead. Now there are
cars again parked out front and
three policemen are watching the
doorway. We frame the suspension
in good faith : worried for nothing
o'er the things that may come.

Just down the street there used to
be a community pool. Depression-era
again; that's when all that stuff got
made. People were in this all together;
things were quite communal then. For
the good of all, and all as one. 'That's
how we'll make things better, son.'
