MISERABLE MONEYMAKER
It used to be like this but now it's
not : the candyman at the corner
and those turtle races at some ratty
old bar. Monahan's? Maybe so, but
I forget - Linden or Elizabeth?
-
It get so much anymore that even
the curtains lie fallow, with nothing
ever coming forth from shadows. I
walk around careening into things,
never realizing I've been here before.
'Been there, done that,' as they say
at 'The Omnivore.'
-
That's my latest clash of arms:
some restaurant where the small
crowd gathers in masks. The lady
said, 'We eat out dimpled fries,
and even the waitresses are afraid
to talk to us by the table sides.'
