I never knew what a chevron was, until
long after I'd moved away. Only known
before as a brand of gas, it took me a
little time to understand. Rank and
station and privilege. Like in the
French Foreign Legion, or some
scabby army in some African
kingdom. Klingon? Chevron?
Neon? Freon?
