13,523. STEEPLEJACK CHASE, MORAVIAN FACE

STEEPLEJACK CHASE,
MORAVIAN FACE
Nothing goes together as it was meant to;
the hinges on the wrong side, the doorway
facing the wrong way, window sashes that
bolt but stay unlocked. Piles of high-urban
apartments line the street with runoff trialing
down. Newark and Camden, each in their
own way, crumble, while New York and
Philadelphia fall. Everything is near, yet
far apart, and it all resembles roundness
in its circularity.
-
'What goes around, comes around,' it's
been said to me, though I notice that takes
a time-frame very different than does our
daily lives; the horizon being far too long.
The Seven-Years War does Afghanistan
dances; the First Crusade is yet running.
What chance is there for turning about
in these so-close-quartered times?
