9071. FORT POCK-O-TELL PARK

FORT POCK-O-TELL PARK
'There was a lynch mob here just two
hours ago, but they all walked off to
Woolworth's as a mob seeking lunch
together. Good luck to that, I say.'
-
Under cover of darkness, I snuck
out of there and ran for home. I
just needed a drink, that was all.
I knew I'd found a mess of gold,
but none of them could ever know.
-
I was nearly 38, and so much of
life was far behind me. I already
had forgotten a string of regrets,
and forgiven so many others.
The other guy looked me over
and said, 'Let's have a toast
then, for Little Boy Blue. I'm
determined to get drunk, if it's
the last thing I do.'
