AND THEN
I have taken nothing from the Gods, as it is they
have offered little anyway. The air I breath, they
already take claim. So be it. My arms are a
cantankerous lot, and can do many things -
alas and evidently, not enough to best this.
-
The lily-flower which blossoms in May,
I think I have seen it. The sound of the
chortling frog, or the lizard which makes
its way across land, I've witnessed as
well. So many things have taken me -
and Nature in all its forms remains to
be my sovereign guide. I know nothing
else. I seek no other place.
