TO MAINTAIN THE TENSION
Sometimes, when writing, I say
things wrong, just to tighten the
spread, maintain the tension, and
accelerate the notion. It keeps a
reader on those golden toes they
do love so well. 'What did he
mean by that?', they say to a
wonder all their own.
-
And, now that I am finished, I'll
let this slide : my 'really' feelings
about 'who or whom' or 'that or
which?' I don't give a glimmer,
in truth, but I watch so very
carefully how it all runs.
