4107. GESTATION

GESTATION
('it's all about world domination')
There are poetry ladies of a dripping pen,
doing their time in cubicles of love and hatred;
they weep and lunge over flowers and clouds.
With so little to say, they manage so much :
a hatred of praxis, a government-fund swoon,
a 28-day period, a mood and a scream. I watch
them claw and wiggle, and I know what they mean.
'This life is a tired homage, a lonely whole; and I
mean that sincerely, like a child's love, or the beating
of a kitten's heart, or the fire of love that God passes.'
'What do you mean,' I said, 'what do you mean to say?'
