INOFFENSIVE FACELINES
I sacked Vita Sackville-West; just
had to let her go. She'd become too
inoffensive. It goes to show how
hiding in the shadows sometimes
has an ill effect : We wanted more
fun and glory, but she came off
just as a wreck. Silent and pleasing,
though....

The bright sunlight of Summer days
seems flown away, and I've never seen
a bluebird in the snow - though I did
this morning. More than one, in fact.
Three strange bright spots with a
lower belly white. Pretty and odd
all together. I never know how this
happens : All that bird distance
and flight.

There's a red cardinal too; as I write.
