MANAGING IN ISOLATION
How thereby hangs a tale : the
way it's said; the single feline
waiting on the fencepost, to rest
in a Winter's-ending sunlit warmth.
Habits die hard, in the coat-shops
and department stores; in the clinics
and old churches; in the winnowed
shadows of every school and dorm.

Groups together make their ways
across wide plazas; those rimmed by
by grass and trees, or those just bare
to brick and paver. Muttering with
what passes for knowledge : things
gone, and things forgotten.
