TO DO JUSTICE WITH THE
LIVING, ONE MUST FIRST
KNOW THE DEAD
This is not necessarily a five-star hotel,
a Michelin-Guide mark, a gatepost to
somewhere else - it may be anywhere,
and it may be at all. We live to remark
on the breathing we do.
-
With lust and vigor, it seems, people go at
things harmlessly. But haphazardly too?
I've heard stories of the funerals where
the living-dead start wailing, yet the other
dead say nothing back at all. It's a lid we
close forever; experience enthralled.
-
Here is a bit of skylight, still seeping in
though some contractor claims now it's
been all sealed up. That's what you get
from agreeing with such a pup. Dry,
dead limbs that fall from trees, they
hit the ground, hopelessly.
