4504. NUANCED

NUANCED
The Florida lawn at the bedstead, the sprinklers
working full-time. I don't know where that all left off,
but I can remember leaving for Louisiana shortly after
this : noticing your best new hat, seeing you skylark
face laughing, stepping back in to pick up my winnings
and seeing a tear in your eye.
-
Life, however, is full of such moments  -  lies and truth
alike. Wherever it is that the tear often lies, it never
really lies in the eye. Which, come to speak of it,
is really only from where it falls. I make too much?
-
Of all this is life's blemish  -  parting words and soliloquies.
Double-deep chocolate dishes, the kind of stuff only girls eat.
