PALATINE

As Rome was built upon Palatine Hill,
so too shall I stand sparsely and only
later grow atop my own ruins. Eight
meters deep, perhaps, and more,
these ancient soils amass and pile,
deepening both the mystery and the
ruin. The abject and the flaunted -
a white-marble enclosure around
the rim of a fuller disclosure.
