SKATING
There are some kids with the
paragraph kit running crazy
in distant Nebraska. They claim
the world's ending before it shuts
down. Is that the natural order,
I wonder?
-
So much is over now - though
they haven't yet cut out my tongue.
The cows in the pasture can do a
better job - these days - of imparting
information than I ever did.
-
I like the glimmer of allusion.
Kiddo, you're done! The country's
been stolen. We've lost it all - in fact,
gave it away - by the silence of carting
others. That big barrel-basket is now
just filled with debris, while the
accident scene is still burning.
-
They'll be on the TV soon : proclaiming
deducements, pointing their nagging fingers,
and scalding the water as the pot comes a'boil.
Go home now, yes, but it's not over yet.
